Dear Juno (or any other teenager that’s in this situation),
As you probably know now, this decision wasn’t really a good one, and I don’t want to give you a bunch of crap about how “you shouldn’t have done it” or “how could you think of doing something like this?!” because that’s just a horrible thing to do. You deserve to be supported and helped out throughout this dilemma, despite it being something you probably should’ve waited on. Sexual tendencies hit us someday within our lives, and it’s really hard to control (I get it), but protection is such a precious thing that should really be practiced if you don’t plan on having a child of your own. Sure, it could be a little unpleasant, but it’s worth it.
Juno, what you did for the baby was probably one of the greatest things you could do for it. I personally think abortion is a stupid thing (unless it comes to rape or something of that magnitude), and both you and I probably thought that keeping the baby would be too big of a task at that young of an age. However, what if you did have the abortion? Your life would’ve been changed. You probably would’ve regretted the decision, cried for a few days, and then feel guilty for a very long time, maybe even your entire lifetime. What about the family you gave your baby to? If you would’ve gone through with the abortion, they would still be looking desperately for a child, starting to eventually lose hope. Same with keeping the baby for yourself. There are a lot of hard decisions to be made when it comes to pregnancy, which is why it is best to make sure you plan ahead, and make sure you are fully ready. Having a baby is a big responsibility, and you’ll be paying for their expenses and other loans, all the way through their college years.
So, like what your dad said, you will probably be in that bed again someday, but make sure that one is planned. I wish you the best of luck.
